GBBCC Donation - May 2020
With our healthy financial balance and no meeting expenses for most of this year, your Executive committee felt that there are many local people who require help during these unsettling times. We made a decision to donate $1,000 to our local charity, Salvation Army Food Bank in Collingwood. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, financial support is most needed, as it gives them the opportunity to purchase the supplies that are most needed.
With regard to the GBBCC donation, Major Neil Evenden has said:
”Many thanks for your continuing support - it is greatly appreciated. I hope that you will be able to ‘Hit the Road’ and Social Distance on a nice sunny day!”
GBBCC holds its Christmas Gala at the beginning of December each year and members bring food donations for the local Salvation Army Food Bank. We also raise money from a raffle draw for items donated by other members. In December 2019, GBBCC donated a vey large quantity of non-perishable goods as well as a cheque to the Food Bank.
Adopt-A-Highway Clean Up
GBBCC has adopted a two kilometre section of Grey Road 2, south east of Thornbury. The club cleans the highway in the Spring and again in the Fall each year. There is an award for the GBBCC member who finds the most unusual piece of garbage found during each cleanup. See photo galleries.
Canada Day Parade
Each year, GBBCC takes part in the July 1st Canada Day parade in Thornbury.
