June 24th to 27th MG 2010 in Belleville

The MG Car Club of Toronto hosted the North American MGB Register’s 19th Annual Convention in Belleville, Ontario. There were some 250 MGBs, representing over 50 MG and British car clubs from all over North America, including Ralph Kertcher, Ken & Josie Bickerton, and Graeme Wallace from GBBCC.

Big Chute Marine Railway – June 19th

Despite the very poor weather forecast, Fred Terry led six members vehicles on a wonderful route to Big Chute Marine Railway. Participants were Paul Green & John Green (not related to each other) wearing pith hats, Bob & Pam Muir, Ron McCann who took Wayne Clute (with new knee), Ross Tyler, Mike O’Rourke who took Fred Terry as his guide, and Graeme Wallace. The weather improved so much that most of the cruise was in lovely sunshine. Larry & Barb Burns met us at Big Chute and very kindly arranged parking for us there. We all enjoyed a picnic beside the Big Chute and then we drove back to our homes. A most enjoyable cruise.

Eastern Cruise June 8th …

We were very fortunate to have excellent weather for our cruise from Angus to Singhampton. It was very gratifying to me and a little intimidating to see 21 members in 12 cars trailing out behind me as we made our way around the route. I tried to maintain a good speed to allow to everyone to enjoy the twists and turns, ups and downs of the route. Everyone seemed to enjoyed their meals at Mylars and Loretos. The service was very good so those, that wished to, could get home before the street lights came on. My thanks to all for their participation. Tom Schutte.

Cops for Cancer (June 5th) …….

Cops for Cancer was a very successful event with many people having their heads shaved by the staff of the Curling Iron, led by Jean Northover. It was well attended by the local community, including five GBBCC members with their vehicles; Rick Crawford, Paul Green, Ken Bickerton, Harry Drover and Graeme Wallace.

British Car Week is an annual British car driving awareness week for promoting British cars on a world-wide basis. This is our opportunity to show off our British cars to the general public who rarely, or in many cases never have the opportunity to get a real life close up glimpse of these extremely interesting automobiles. This week is all about providing opportunities for potential enthusiasts to become aware of British car marques, and to talk to car owners.

Sixteen members of GBBCC came to the Collingwood Farmers’ Market in Collingwood on Saturday morning, May 29th and displayed their British vehicles to many interested people.
