Eastern Cruise June 8th …

We were very fortunate to have excellent weather for our cruise from Angus to Singhampton.  It was very gratifying to me and a little intimidating to see 21 members in 12 cars trailing out behind me as we made our way around the route.  I tried to maintain a good speed to allow to everyone to enjoy the twists and turns, ups and downs of the  route. Everyone seemed to enjoyed their meals at Mylars and Loretos. The service was very good so those, that wished to, could get home before the street lights came on.  My thanks to all for their participation.  Tom Schutte.

Cops for Cancer (June 5th) …….

Cops for Cancer was a very successful event with many people having their heads shaved by the staff of the Curling Iron, led by Jean Northover.   It was well attended by the local community, including five GBBCC members with their vehicles; Rick Crawford, Paul Green, Ken Bickerton, Harry Drover and Graeme Wallace.

British Car Week (May 29th to June 6th)

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

British Car Week  is an annual British car driving awareness week for promoting British cars on a world-wide basis.  This is our opportunity to show off our British cars to the general public who rarely, or in many cases never have the opportunity to get a real life close up glimpse of these extremely interesting automobiles.   This week is all about providing opportunities for potential enthusiasts to become aware of British car marques, and to talk to car owners.

Sixteen members of GBBCC came to the Collingwood Farmers’ Market in Collingwood on Saturday morning, May 29th and displayed their British vehicles to many interested people.

April 18, 2010 : Ancaster Convoy

Monday, April 26th, 2010

Five British Cars and six GBBCC members made up an early morning convoy to Ancaster on Sunday morning, following a route planned by Harry de Ruiter.

Dick Clark (driving top-down all day), Harry de Ruiter, Bob Muir and Graeme Wallace set off from Collingwood and were joined at Shelburne by Alan Brand and Mike o’Rourke from Owen Sound and Markdale. Ian Chapman dropped by to say hello on his way to a prior engagement.

All in all a good day, though we could do without the major traffic jam caused by a cycling race that plagues the trip home!

Spring 2010 Adopt A Highway cleanup

Monday, April 26th, 2010

Our Spring Adopt A Highway cleanup was on April 25, 2010.

Twenty-one club members attended our semi-annual litter clean up on Grey Road 2. This was a very happy day for our Vice President Harry de Ruiter, as not only did he pick up a lot of the usual trash, but Harry also found a somewhat dilapidated, but still useable FIFTY DOLLAR BILL ($50.00)!

Perhaps this may be an incentive for other members to come out for the next clean up!
